Some of us arent breakfast people. For me the idea of waking up and eating turns my stomach and ensures that I wont be hungry for the rest of the day. I know the importance of starting the day with a complete breakfast, and so began my search for the perfect breakfast food.

The quest led me to the wonderful word of smoothies. Usually I reserved the smoothies for when I was out and got a craving. I never considered making them at home, but it became evident that they are the best breakfast food. They are great for getting in those extra servings of vegetables that we need, and they are easy to take with you on the go. Because they are low in fat, and acting as a meal replacer, they are helping me to reach my weight loss goals. They are more filling than youd expect. One smoothie will keep me happy until lunch time. They are also surprisingly easy to make.

The idea of following one recipe after another to make smoothies seemed rather silly to me. It is, in essence smooshed up fruit. How many recipes do you need? I just pick whatever fruits I enjoy, that I think will taste good together. You could try the classic flavor combinations like strawberry and banana or pineapple and mango, or get inventive. Use about cup of fruit, 1/3 cup of low fat vanilla yogurt, 1/3 cup milk, soymilk, or coconut milk. Throw it all in the blender and mix it up! If you want to you can throw in about 10 ice cubes and make it a frozen treat!

You dont have to sit down to a meal full of carbohydrates to count as breakfast! Break out that blender and drink yourself silly. Umbrella and beach are purely optional.
