People often start a diet full throttle and ready to reach their goals. They lose the weight that they had wanted to lose, and are shocked when they gain it all back and then some. They are making the same mistakes as a million other people who got the same wrong message. The way to change you shape isnt to change your diet. You need to change your lifestyle. There are differences and the differences are huge.
A diet focuses more on the goals, and a lifestyle focuses on the ways to reach the goal. Instead of saying I want to lose 30 lbs, try saying I want to eat healthy, exercise, and make myself a priority Changing the way you look at that means you are more likely to focus on the ways to get there, rather than the number on the scale, which can be misleading. Besides, what is going to happen once you lose 30lbs? You are going to go back to your old way of life, and gain it all back!
With a diet you measure your success by numbers. I lost X lbs or I gained X lbs. You are always comparing yourself to a static never changing number. With a lifestyle change success is measured by how you feel. I feel better/worse today than I did yesterday. The reason you want to think that way, rather than the dieting way is it is subjective, and allows you to measure more factors than a number. You might feel better mentally, but be physically drained, but 5 lbs is 5lbs, that is all it tells you.
With a diet once it is over, it is over. You will most likely return to your former life, and start gaining back the weight. With a lifestyle change, you are committed to being the healthiest you possible for the rest of your life. Therefore you are more likely to succeed than if you started it with a dieters frame of mind.
