If you are like many Americans you probably find it hard to motivate yourself to work out if you are having a rough day. So, instead of trying to motivate yourself, let your mood do it for you. Go ahead and exercise yourself happy.

Doctors have been noticing a correlation to happiness and amount of exercise in recent years. They arent discovering anything new according to runners who have been talking about the runners high for years. The body releases endorphins that make you feel happy when you get in a good strenuous workout. So it makes sense that you actually can exercise yourself to a state of bliss, but to make it easier for you, why not try to coordinate your exercising to your moods?

If you are having bad day, and feel depressed, sad, or another brand of crappy, try some old fashioned cardio. If you can walk with a friend, walking and talking about your problems could mix some therapy into your day, but if not dont fret. Think about the things that are upsetting you while you are running and walking. The time by yourself dealing with your problems is the best thing you can do for your brain, and the cardio is the best thing you can do for your heart.

If you just got into a fight with your significant other, or got cut off in traffic four times on the way home from work, you need to get that aggression out. Use that aggression to fuel your strength training. Think about the things that are making you angry while you are lifting weights, and take the time to figure out why you are so angry. If thinking about them only makes you angrier, that is okay, just do another repetition. Use the anger as a force to push you a little harder than your usual routine.

One of the best side effects of exercising yourself happy is that the workouts will become less necessary as time goes on. As you get into better shape, both mentally and physically, you will have to find other ways to motivate yourself to work out. Another good side effect is that after a while you will feel sad, and immediately get the urge to go for a walk/run.
