Celiac disease is difficult to diagnose. People live ten years with it before being correctly diagnosed. Ten years of fatigue, itchy skin, coughing, join pain, depression, irritability or behavior changes, gas, or diarrhea and or constipation. Ten years of extreme weight loss or weight gain with no logical reason. Thats a long time to feel this bad and not know why. Those ten years of a person life couldnt be lived to its fullest.
One-out of one hundred thirty three people have celiac diseases, usually undiagnosed. This includes young children. Seventeen percent of celiac patience have immediate family member that is also celiac.
This seems like a large number and the medical professionals should be taking this disease seriously. People with this disease suffer unnecessarily, have surgeries that arent needed, go to psychologists for help, and get to take medicines for diseases that they really dont have.
